Poll Results May 19, 2019
Jay Inslee dominated yesterday’s poll at the expense of Tim Ryan. The four men in the poll were Mike Gravel, Inslee, Ryan and Eric Swallwell. Gravel and Swallwell met expectations for the poll results. Inslee, who I had projected to win the poll but with 32%, came in at 46%, while Tim Ryan, who I expected to challenge or perhaps win, I was expecting 30%, came in at only 18%. Inslee stole 12% from Ryan and picked up 1% each from Gravel and Swallwell.
This was the second straight relatively strong poll performance for Inslee; I mean, he’s got a long way to go to get out of the lower rungs of the competition, but he is clearly doing better. The last time he was polled, May 7, he drew 14%, but Joe Biden was in that poll. 14% against Joe Biden is actually a BETTER performance than 46% against Gravel, Ryan and Swallwell; well, actually it is almost exactly the same, but it’s a tiny bit better. Ryan has only been polled four times, which is not a lot; he scored at 153 in the first poll, 143 in the second one, 212 in the third one, 212 in the one yesterday. Tim Ryan has been polled five times; he has come in at 218, 142, 118, 70 and (yesterday) 112. These are the updated standings:

I’m polling the bottom four candidates now. For the next week I’m going to poll random matchups, but with the two newest candidates (Bill de Blasio and Steve Bullock) polled twice, although they will not appear in the standings until they have been polled a third time. Thanks.
