I'm 32 years old (I hope this still qualifies me as a young writer) and for the past ten years I've been writing for two struggling newspapers while living in Maine. I grew up in New Hampshire and graduated from the University of New Hampshire. I listen to and analyze baseball announcers, and I love to watch and listen to pre-1990 games. I've also spent way too much money on baseball board game simulations and old issues of The Sporting News. I live with my girlfriend and her cat. I often wear a Kansas City Royals hat, and I am absolutely the only person I have ever seen in Maine wearing one. I get comments about this all the time, usually along the lines of "Why aren't you wearing a Red Sox hat?" or "You must really like the Royals to be seen in public wearing that."

Sounds a little dicey, don’t it? Mr. DiFillipo claims to have graduated from the University of New Hampshire, but it is well known that there is no University of New Hampshire. He claims to wear a Kansas City Royals hat, but he seems to have no legitimate reason to do so. He claims to live in Maine, but he writes an entire paragraph without a single reference to Stephen King. He lives with his girlfriend and her cat, but doesn’t say whether he is there for the girl or the cat. No pictures.
Well, we’re going to give him a shot anyway. Mr. DiFillippo is the second of the five writers I have invited to try to build an audience on our site. I enjoy his writing. I hope you do as well.
